Wheel bearings?

Four or five years ago I redid all the wheel bearings, seals, brakes etc. on my WC53. Worked fine for years. Now I have to redo all this because the outside seals begin to leak and let 90 wt into the brake shoes.

The bearings looked wonderful to me. So I reused them, replacing the shoes, seals etc.

Remounting the hubs is causing my great grief. The plan, from last time, was to torque the bearing nut to 100 ft lbs, spin the drum repeat 'till it does't come loose anymore. Then back off 1/6 turn and lock it down. On the driver's rear, it locks down so tight that there's no way I can spin the silly thing. What in the world could be locking up the bearings so bad?

So I decided to take a break from it and post here.
