A sawzall through rubber works, but until you find the right blade, it will vibrate the heck out of you. And maybe there is no right blade.

The sawzall cuts until it reaches the bead and then it is too hard to see where to cut. So, I cut the tire off by cutting all around the rim. Which is fine, but the bead is still there and there was this other rubber ring like thing, no, not the tube. That was expected, but some other rubber ring thingy.

And the bead; the inner diameter is WAY smaller than the rim, and it appears to me that there is a metal cord inside the bead, at the bottom of the bead, and it is very difficult to cut it without damaging the wheel. I was trying to feel my way through the cable, but there isn't enough feedback to know if I am cutting cable or cutting wheel.

Is it safe to remove that split ring now that the tire is most definitely not holding air pressure? The internet says it is safe to remove it once the tire is deflated, but I am not willing to risk my safety on an article on the internet. And if it is safe, now do you remove it? Will the bead be easier to remove without the split ring installed?
