The photo is of one of my headlight buckets, after it has been painted with a few layers of clear coat. I want to remove the orange peel and bring it to a high gloss, and I am fine with hand sanding to level the clear, but I have never used a powered polisher on a curved surface. I have now watched tons of YouTube videos on how to cut and buff the clear coat, and they just use their electric polishing machine with rubbing compound and then polishing compound on all parts of the car, including the curved sections. Any advice on how NOT to burn through the cleat coat when using an electric random orbit polisher? The clear coat has been curing for at least a week now, so I think it has cured.
