Polishing with a machine takes years of practice to be really good. There’s a fine line between having it perfect to burning through. When polishing with a machine you’re creating a fair bit of heat…and a good polisher knows exactly how much & when to stop. Also, you have to be so careful polishing near an edge. You want your pad gliding off the panel & not the other way around.
The best polisher I knew had been doing it all his life & he was incredible but I also watched him throw his polisher across the shop on many occasions :)
He’s you can polish by hand. It’s slow & tiring. A headlight…sure. Your hood…it would be difficult if it’s eurethane.
