No, Paul, I haven't been to the Adirondacks. I've been to my relatives in Middletown NY. I've been to Boston and Greenfield Mass and hiked up Mt Washington in New Hampshire, so I know it's not all skyscrapers and taxis. I even drove out long ago with a GF from Delaware so I saw the DuPont country and the Amish country, and even spent a day in Cleveland, which didn't look half as bad as the South Bronx. Drove through Gary Indiana, Chicago, a bunch of cow farms and a whole lot of country with no mountains anywhere to be seen, until somewhere around Butte it started looking like I was getting near home. But still, in my geographical mind, when I think of "the east", which means everything past the Rockies, I see Manhattan.

And yeah, I'm glad you like your strict regulations to keep everything "wild". I'm glad we haven't had to resort to that here. Let everybody keep thinking that North Idaho is just inbreds and leadheads and we'll be fine.
