Wow,I must have had a odd-ball then?I had a 44(completely converted to 8-lug Cheby disc brakes with Warn lock-out hubs).I put a 60 8-lug rear axle under it.Front shaft never turned(I watched it)and the truck would do 75mph down the highway(without it being locked in Hi-lock or LO-lock for that matter). The reason I commented on this is because I have had several full-time 70s trucks.I have also done a crap load of mods. and conversions.I personally do NOT like the 203s.Thats why I have tried different things. If what you say is true, then how come alot of guys say they removed there front shaft and drove there trucks that way?I agree its twice as hard on the front axle without the front shaft. You just have way too many moving(wearable)parts on a full-time set-up,but on the 203s I have messed with, free up the front axle and the front shaft wont turn and it will move without locking it into HI or Lo-lock.
