Message:   Well, I woke up late today. Had an awful knot in my stomach about parting with the truck. Anyway, I called up John, aka Hobcobble, and he took me to lunch for some amazing Buffalo wings where I met his wife Coleen and their friend Marianne. After stuffing ourselves we all went over to the Hobcobble farm where John showed me some great trucks and an authentic 67 Coronet RT in his new 40x50 garage! We then proceeded to some cool English style 1800's barns on rock foundations with hand sewn beams on his property where he had even more trucks and parts and a few more trucks and a black lab!! John is a hard working hobbyist and his wife is just as excited about them! Even Maryanne who was visiting was into it!!!

It started getting late and I had to make the dreaded call to Mike, the new owner of my truck, to let him know I was in town and see if he perhaps wanted to change his mind about the deal. He said no dice but invited us all to his house for a BBQ. He was standing outside waiting for me to arrive and was waiving me down as the old Swepty growled up his street. I could tell he wanted to run out to the street but maintained one hand on his screen door as he demonstrated tremendous self control. He was smiling ear to ear... if he had a tail he would have been wagging it!! He gave me a wave, no introduction needed, and ordered me up the driveway. Before I could get out of the truck he said, "No way are you leaving with that truck... it's MINE even if you offered me double what I paid you, No Way", he continued in his stern yet smiling demeanor. Well I guess that's that!! He was so excited and such a kind host. He even tried to give me more money for my expenses!

Mike explained that when he was a small boy his father, RIP, had a truck just like it. He used the small inheritance from his parents passing to buy things that he could remember them by. He chose my truck. He's a heck of a guy!!

So John and I were barely there at Mike's house when Mike said he was going to pick up some food he'd ordered and told us, "Please make yourselves at home... I'll be back soon, feel free to help yourselves to beer, my refrigerator, bathroom... whatever you need". He just met us and trusted us with his house while he went out to pick up vittles for us. Very nice guy, very trusting. He returned shortly after and we hung out in his garage (Dixie flags) and the girls arrived. John's wife, Marianne and Mikes girl and her sister as well. We slammed down Buffalo wings, sausages, burgers and beer for a while. Before I left, Mike gave me a couple of silver dollars for good luck. I let Mike keep the butterfly collection in the grill. I think we left about 10pm!!

Mike will not likely read this because he is pretty old school and not online. His lady said she will work with him on that but trust me folks, Mike is a great guy and when he does make it online and to the forums he will be very entertaining!!

John then took me to the car rental place and I said goodbye to him. Colleen carried one of my bags for me and Marianne carried my banjo. I owe a lot to John for spending the day with me, showing me around and making my last day in my Power Wagon the best it could be. Thanks John!! Thanks ladies!!

Well, the Power Wagon portion of my trip is now over. It was a resounding success. I had a great time, met lots of great people and did it in one of the greatest vehicles ever built. Dodge Power Wagon! I have another week of my vacation. Tonight I'm in Oneida. Tomorrow I'll spend the day with relatives I haven't seen in a long time here in central NY. The next few days I'll be in Cape Cod with my brother, then Nantucket, the Hamptons for a wedding then back to Los Angels where I hope my plants didn't die from me not watering them!!

Thank you all for reading this and making the Dodge truck community so awesome!!!
