Thanks, Vaughn. Good point about the side play on the shafts, so I will check that.

As for the pitting, it might not be a big deal, but there was what I consider to be a lot of pitting all over the teeth, not just a little pit here and there, as well as possibly some galling. I think the T-case will probably be good for a while, maybe a long time....maybe for as long as I need. But there was just so much rust in some places, especially at the bases of the teeth (between teeth) that it definitely causes me concern in the long run.

Whenever I get the truck up and running, I will try to get a feel for the noise level/type, although that can be difficult with all the other noise that a Power Wagon makes.

I have a line on some other transfer cases, including the ones Greg mentioned in his response. It might not be a bad idea to have a spare, especially if it's in better shape than mine.

The T-case is the only part of the truck that I haven't touched in the 33 years I've owned it. Judging by its condition, I doubt it's ever been rebuilt. For reliability and peace of mind, it seems like I should probably open it up at some point. Of course, I might be inviting more trouble than I'm preventing, lol.
