The TC is a tough unit, I ran pitted gear in mine a long time with not issues. If the gears are missing big chunks from pitting, that would be a concern, and what you find most of the time the gears will continue to give good service life. Picking up another unit is a good idea, that's what I have done, rebuilt it, and rotated out when needed. What will make the big difference is good bearings with proper clearance. Thanks Matt!
