There is always a way of attaching one to your ceiling and if that does not work use a hydraulic jack, two boards and a bunch of blocking and raise it in the same way house movers raise houses.
I know a guy who has trusses over his garage and the chainhoist is tucked up in the trusses, he climbs up through an access hole to use the chain hoist. There is a little access panel cut in the ceiling that the chain and hook go through when he needs to lift an engine or cab. Nothing wrong with a little creativity.
