I am having a hard time envisioning exactly what the part is that you pictured. Power-Wagon related?

Before making a judgement call on the welds, I would have to know exactly what kind of function the part is intended to perform. Do the welds need to be of full penetration from both sides, or from one side only?

Are they supposed to be butt welds, fillet welds, or bevel welds? What is the joint type, i.e: corner, edge, lap, tee, etc.? Can the panels successfully be welded continuously without fear of warping, or should they be skip welded only? What contour should be on the finished weld beads, i.e.: flat, convex, concave?

Did the original parts consist of multiple parts welded together, or were they formed from one continuous piece? If welded, were they spot welded together or bead welded?

How were the current welds generated on the new parts - Arc, Mig, Tig, or oxy acetylene?

Do you have access to the weld prints? Are they U.S.A. made parts or foreign made?

I agree they do not look good cosmetically, but there may be more to the story.
