Yea we have some toll lanes with photo enforcement. Tolls range from $0.75 to over $10.00 depending on traffic. So far so good for me. I refuse to use them during tolling hours. All my friends regardless of left or right political views consider them class warfare by the state. If you can’t afford the $5 to $10 twice a day during rush hour you are stuck in the non toll lanes in bumper to bumper traffic. So if you have money your travel time is much shorter. If you have 2 or 3 people in the car you can avoid the toll but you need a pass which requires you to keep a minimum amount of money in their system and access to your credit card. If you don’t use the money within a specified period of time they keep it. But they will keep sending you emails about the advantages and etc.

The most often error seems to be incorrect reading of license plates.

This whole system was put in place to make up for the lost gas tax revenue. What they really want is to put a transponder on your car so they can track your actual mileage and charge you a per mile use tax. Some how they ran into a brick wall, something about personal privacy and tracking the movement of every car in the state. They also have a plan to exclude from freeways all cars and trucks that are not self driving cars that communicate with each other. They idea is that they can create convoys of trucks and cars that are very close together and move in unison. This will remove the human element and indecision that causes traffic congestion. Obviously this is 10 or so years out in their thinking.
