I have several 230 engines and all of them run a mechanical fuel pump without any issues even in 100 degree heat with ethanol fuel. Well while making a run to drop off some old batteries it ran fine, on the way back it left me stranded in 100 degree heat. Ok no prob I keep tools in the truck just in case and a little extra gas because some times the tap the tank method gives a faulty reading. It did not want to fire off initially but would with ether. Wife pulls me home in the other truck and I pull the fuel pump off. To my surprise the pin that holds the lever in place had backed out. This is a serious failure and could lead to massive engine damage if the lever and or the spring fly off while cruising at 45 mph. Really at any engine speed. This was a NAPA part roughly 8 months old.
