Hello all,
Helping a buddy to try and remove a stubborn drive pinion nut on his 1/2ton WC-14 third member. We have cleaned the yoke area real good, removed the cotter pin from the nut and have put tons of loose juice on it. Could not get it to budge using an electric impact wrench. Have heard they were torqued on using about 250 Ft. Lbs of force. We do not have an air impact gun or large enough compressor to do the job. What about using a big pipe wrench on the flange of the yoke and a big a.. cheater bar on the 1/2” breaker bar. Will this possibly do the trick? Hate hammering on the nut with the electric impact gun and do damage to the pinion teeth or ring gear. What a PITA this is.
