Hi Vaughn, well I fully agree on the leather seal reliability & durability...and in fact have them in every truck I’ve restored, that said, the new one that comes in a Dodge 3500 is rubber & it’ll go 300k without dripping or virtually any dampness.
So I’ve always soaked my leather seals & worked them but they aren’t like a modern seal when it comes to zero seepage. If I drive my trucks, they seem to stop leaking but let them sit a few months & you’ll find drips on the garage floor.
