I mounted a flatbed on my '49 B1PW. It's sitting on 3x6(s) coped to the frame rails. I'm using four large US made U-bolts to hold it to the frame. Is there a prescribed amount that I should tighten those u-bolt nuts? I've snugged up the ones against the closed side of the frame but unsure of the amt. of torque on the open side so as to avoid crimping the rail. Should the frame be blocked at the u-bolts? I considered a piece of seasoned oak on the inside but am not sure the rail should be sandwiched between wood? Any ideas?
Thanks,
