I got to thinking a little more about my "performance" issues. (Not mine!! The 218 flatheads!)

After doing a bit of research I went to tom Langdons page on vacuum advance and why you want it:

http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/tech/vacuum-advance-and-why-you-want-it/

Now when I built up my truck I had a distributor from a power wagon with mechanical advance to use in much better shape, so opted to use it. Still running it.

Are there performance issues with the power curve and "pep" associated with a mechanical advance distributor over a vacuum advance module conceited unit?

Are you power wagon guys running a mechanical advance or did you swap that to vacuum at some point?

I'm thinking after reading his article it's entirely possible that my lack of power could be partly due to the mechanical advance?

I was also seeing where tom Langdon sells an HEI distributor for the flathead and thinking of going back to vacuum advance , IF this really could be a cause of performance. If not I'll save my money,

But throwing it out there to the forum on you alls thoughts on the matter.

And have any of you ever purchased and are running this unit he sells:
