When I got a 68 it had a slant 6 carb on it and did not run well.I got the original carb with the truck and rebuilt it and it ran rich and you could smell the exhaust. I lowered the float some to try to help but no avail. I think someone in the past enlarged the jets. So I took the lower half of the slant six carb and put it on the original carb as it looked the same. Then it ran well and the rich smell was gone and it will pull the long hill on route 19 to Erie pa in high gear where my old 67 had to shift down. It seems to have plenty of power even towing a trailer
