I think the original carbs were way undersized for engine displacement used. Especially on the 251 or 265 engines. But at least Chrysler offered a two carb option on some of those engines at the time.

A two barrel from a 273 v8 would be the right size on the 251 and 265 flat heads.

I'll have to try it on my truck to see. I have to overhaul the engine anyways, might as well put a cam in it too!
