Welcome to Forum #544
By the 1950s, the formerly vast Civilian Conservation Corps workforce had dwindled, leaving the Ohio Division of Forestry short on manpower to fight wildfires. In response to this, efforts to mechanize the forest fire suppression force began. Engines, dozers, fire plows, and aircraft were acquired, designed, and fabricated by the Division of Forestry, changing how fires were fought in Ohio.

Pictured are a Division of Forestry Dodge Power Wagon, and a Terratrac dozer outfitted for wildfire suppression.
