Yep the. 8 3/4 didn’t last long. They first tried a different set of spider gears in the 8 3/4 then went to the 9 5/8. Early 3/4 ton had front and rear 8 3/4 axles. Then it seemed that they had an 8 3/4 front axle with a 9 5/8 rear axle (like my WC53 has) then to both axles having 9 5/8 axles. The 9 5/8 axles also went through it’s own transition.
