I'll admit I'm scared to get into the multifuel injection pump with its "density compensator" that varies the timing based on type of fuel. I don't have a manual and it seems to be full of tricky stuff. I imagine taking covers off and ripping gaskets that can't be got any more. May well be something got rusty or dirty and stuck, but fuel goes through 3 filters by that point and should be clean and with plenty of cans to collect any water along the way. It either runs fine or doesn't run at all, so I don't think it's anything to do with the injectors.

And now my other M35 is developing a similar problem. Had lots of trouble with it 2 years ago when using it to tow my Toyota out of the upper St Joe country, where the timing chain jumped the sprocket. It didn't totally quit but it lost power badly until I'd bleed the air out of the fuel system, then it would run a good ways further before the same thing happened. Weird thing there is there is the in-tank fuel pump should (and does) provide positive pressure throughout the fuel system up to the injector pump, so any leak should cause fuel to escape, not air to enter. For a long time I loved the multifuels because they'll burn anything and they'll start in 0-deg weather with no ether or glow plugs, but now I'm having my doubts.

But I agree Glen needs a road trip. One of these years he's going to come up in the winter and we'll take the old Sno-Cat up in the hills.
