I always tell people when they complain about June being cold and rainy (often after a really nice May), that that's what makes the huckleberries good. In Washington and in Idaho, that rule has held true as long as I've paid attention. If June is warm and dry, it will be a bad year for huckleberries. If June is cold and rainy, the berries will be good no matter how hot and dry it gets in July and August.
