Re-jetting for higher altitudes? Necessary?

Here's a subject I don't believe has been posted before here.

Rejetting: specifically when moving from a lower elevation to a higher elevation

My questions:

What would I expect in terms of performance on my flathead engine with stock Carter 1 barrel carb currently living and running at 1000 ft above sea level, to a new location at above 8500 ft above sea level?

Does performance change that much with this old technology?

If change to the jet is required, does the jet size get larger, or smaller?

I found this link, but honestly cant put the information to practical use.
