If you are able to re-jet, I am sure it would help. Less air so you need less fuel. I live at about 6000 feet and most of us simply adjust the air/fuel mixture and advance the timing. I can drive 30 minutes from my house and be at 10,000 feet. If I stay at that elevation then I might tweak the air/fuel mixture but it isn't practical for me to re-jet every time I change 4,000 feet because of a mountain. Perhaps change jets for your new base elevation and adjust carb based on trips?
