As a subscriber to Hot Rod magazine since my father bought it for me in grade four (many years ago) I recently read an interesting article about driveline vibration. The problem discovered in this particular build was the steep angle for the u-joints in the driveshaft to handle between the transmission and rear end. The solution was to replace the u-joints with robust CV joints without changing the steepness of the angles. This solution instantly created smoothness in the flow of torque to the rear end. Longevity and reliability have not been an issue especially with the engine putting out close to 400 hp. and close to that in torque.
My reason for this post is I've seen quite steep angles in old Power Wagons for transmission to rear end linkages and wonder if anyone has tried this solution. CV joints work for many modern vehicles and are really reliable.
