I am narrowing in on what I want to do for a diesel engine in the carryall. Being a tight #%$ and wanting something not very common, I'm thinking I really want to use a 360 International...if I can find one. Second choice is a DT466. It's going to be tight, but I'll make it happen. I had acquired a John Deere 404T by chance and thought of using it, but the creation of an adapter to an SAE pattern was going to be too much time, that and the motor is just too long but it would have been decent as far as an option. 145hp, Bosch A pump so going to a road type pump would have been possible, and a dirt simple design if you come up with another setup for the fuel filters.
I've got the feelers out to trade the 404 out for a 360 or 466, then I will go about coming up with a medium duty trans and get my divorce 205 international tranny traded out for a Ford version. I really need to have a motor found so it can be mocked up in the chassis to start setting a body. Wife is currently dug in tight that it's going to be a 2025 project, but I think once I get the body roughed on, she will get more interested!
