The ine time I scraped the carbon kff the pistons, I was worried about getting carbon debris on top of the top ring, between the piston and cylinder. I was afraid the carbon would be abrasive, so I worked and worked and worked to tey to dig out the debris with feeler gages. I never hear anyone else talk about this kind if concern. Is this just not a problem? Or was I supposed to stuff some cloth or paper towels in those gaps to prevent carbon from getting in there in the first place? I think I may have tried to do that, but it didn't work very well. Can't say for sure, as it's been many years.
