that's good too. these engines really do need the head pulled every 30K or so to clean all the carbon off everything. they used to have special walnut blasting set ups in the auto service biz and it was common practice. they blasted with special tips thru the spark plug hole. since the heads are easy to pull I just pull mine and clean it all up. if that's is done these engines last forever. a flathead doesn't burn the fuel/air as completely as an overhead valve engine. so, really is necessary if you dive them tons of miles or buy a god running one with over 30 K on it.
