If you merely want to kill the engine from the front of the truck when running the winch, why don't you install on the radiator guard a "push-to-kill" switch wired into the (now longer) wire going from the ignition switch to the coil? That should kill the engine without disconnecting the battery, which apparently may cause a host of other electrical problems.
