Better than the Pinto recall.

The Pinto tank was at the rear bumper. In a rear ender it would get pushed forward and impale itself on the bolt on the rear axle. Big bolt for the rod that held the axle centered under the car. The recall consisted of sticking a rubber bumper on the bolt. Conical shape, about 4" diameter.

Or the first recall that I heard of was for Chevies that broke motor mounts. Engine could torque over and jam the throttle at full steam ahead. Fix was to hook a cable around the exhaust manifold over to the upper control arm. A clevis pin and cotter pin. Quick fix.
