Ok so most of the guys on this forum are much older than me. As a matter of fact i think im the youngest in the power wagon community. I want your opinion on education and Jobs.
Back in 2011 I graduated from Texas Tech with a business degree. At the time it seemed like a real reputable degree that could stand on its own. I now work work for my dad doing oil and gas exploration. The money is very good and I like the job. My girlfriend who is brilliantly smart has a degree from Texas A&M in Human resources. Over the past year or so she has been talking to me about going back to school for another degree. She keeps saying that an undergraduate degree in business is pretty generic and that if i were to ever work for someone besides my family that i wouldn't stand out amongst others competing for the same job. Unfortunately a college degree isn't what it used to be now that so many people have them. Here in Midland/Odessa UTPB offers both a mechanical engineering degree as well as a Petroleum engineering degree. Because i could work and take a class or two at the same time it would permit me to get a second degree without a great deal of sacrifice financially or geographically. Im interested in Mechanical engineering. I know yall guys are thinking he doesn't have the aptitude for it, he's asked about every mechanism on the dodge power wagon has on it and how it works lol. At times i miss college and learning but mechanical engineering is no easy degree. Its highly math intensive which im decent at but not great. It would be very challenging for me. So do you think the juice is worth the squeeze. I already have a good job but may not always want to work for my family. Im sometimes envious of you guys on here that know how to design, build, and engineer. There are a lot of smart people on here, but i know its because yall love learning. What do yall think about college degrees in todays competitive job market where its survival of the fittest.

Most of my friends got degrees in wildlife management , exercise sports science, psychology, and they had a hard time finding jobs out of school. I at least know that a shitty degree is as good as not having one at all and frankly a waste of time and you gotta go through the pain barrier to achieve something of worth and recognition.
