All depends on your goals. Often you can move into a related career with only some additional courses or a certificate. If you want to do research it likely means a PhD. I started out with a geography masters degree and after 30 years in the mapping and imagery field as a contractor I never have been unemployed. A second degree requires serious dedication and if you are out of college it may be hard to get back into that lifestyle especially if kids are in the picture. A lot of young people pick a major for the wrong reasons and end up with a lot of bills and no prospect of gainful employment. No doubt science and technical degrees are very marketable and worth considering. Think hard about why you want to go back to school and can you afford the time not earning money. Night courses are an option and company tuition reimbursement is common. Good luck.
