OK, I'm still fine tuning my design, measuring many times before cutting once, and have one last question before I make the first cut.

I'd planned on stacking two 2"x6" "C" channel sections on top of each other along with a 2.5" tall frame rail "flattening" filler for the bed cross members to rest on. But dang, at 8.2 lbs/ft, the channel alone will weigh 263 pounds, with the "extra lower filler being 125 pounds of the weight.

I had originally considered using a rough cut 2x8 for the "filler" and setting the 2x6 channel on top of it.

Should I consider going back to finding the rough cut 2x8 and only use the one piece of channel per rail?

In looking at Jerry's fabrication it looks like he's not filling the entire space, just curious as to what others have/are doing and what your thoughts are.

Thanks,
Will
