faster starting. if engine is flooded for some reason a 6 volt wont spin it fast enough to start if again without a loooonng wait. and 8 volt will. if your distributo gets wet when fording water you can drive the truck out in gear with the starter a 6 volt might not be able to do that. brighter lights means safer driving. heater spins faster.
