generally it is way cheaper to take your beast to a reputable blaster and have him go at it . One of the problems to consider is you are going to have alot of chromate and lead dust lying around on your property. You have the cost of the abrasive to consider too . You will have blasting media show up years after you have done the job and no matter how careful you are there is always some popping up when you paint .
The best finish is epoxy . Sef healing zinc epoxy is worth considering for areas that do not get alot of abrasion- inside of doors , nooks and crannies . Top coat it with whatever you want . Forget powder coating . Once it gets a chip in it the rust grows underneath very quickly.

A blast cabinet with its own vaccuumm is definetly worth owning. Add to that a good resperator .
