I made an A-frame for my M35 and it won't stand its own poles up either. I thought it would work, but I didn't think it through very well and it doesn't. The problem is that when the poles are laying down, the cable from the top of the winch drum to the tip of the poles passes slightly below the pivot pins on the bumper. Once the A-frame is up, that line goes well above the pins, but not when it's laying down. There isn't much I can do about it because I'm using the lifting shackle attachment points for the pivot pins. I've thought about some extra gizmo to make the winch lift the A-frame but I haven't come up with anything. For now, I just have to park the truck facing a shed or a tree with a big limb and set up the poles in a somewhat-upright position. I can lift one pole at a time by hand, so this method works, but it's not very convenient.
