Something like that would probably work. It would be similar to a logging arch on the back of a cat. Depending on the geometry, it could raise the pull point when the frame is on the ground, but once the frame is up, the cable would be free of the sheave, so the sheave wouldn't be subjected to heavy loads.

One thing that always makes me nervous with cable-guyed A-frames is the chance of the whole contraption flopping over backwards onto the cab. I've seen enough old trucks with creases in their cabs to know it happens. A stiff-leg brace would be a lot safer, but then that's one more heavy piece of pipe to deal with. I have enough concern with mine that when I have to drive the truck up a hill with the A-frame on it, I put a tag-line on top and have somebody go ahead of me keeping a good pull on the line.
