Knuckle Rebuild Question

I have just torn the left Knuckle apart on my 49 Power Wagon. I noticed that on the top of the Knuckle there is a bushing and on the bottom there is a roller bearing. I read in Paul's Power Wagon Knuckle Rebuild, that putting a roller bearing on the top instead of a bushing was a better idea. He mentioned that the replacement bushings were not well made. Has anyone else done this?
