Just did both of mine on my 51 FFPW,this weekend .I have been watching this forum for a concensous on just this question for about a year. The heavy duty four wheeler crowd on here, seem to go with the bushing on top.The rest seem too like the bearing on the top.I went with the bearing on top, and shimmed it for 27 to 30 pounds as recomended in the millitary manual.Good luck Lucian
