military NDT tires were used on millions of vehicles all over the world in all types of
conditions in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and civilian construction service
the tread design was modified a bit with some
sipes to come up with the later NATO tread design.
tire testing / evaluation can only be done on a test facility by engineers and not just a weekend outing by the seat of the pants
