While eating lunch, I thought of one more important thing to check, the push rod length.
The push rod sits between the Master Cylinder and the Brake Booster. There must be
some clearance in the push rod so when brake pedal is released, the Master Cylinder can
return to its bottom position. To much clearance and the brake pedal must move to close that clearance before any braking action takes place. Ford, Dodge, Chevy, all builders have that clearance at a set length. But that can even change between different master cylinders/vehicle models.

If person who built the original brake system on your truck used a certain master cylinder and some other booster, not engineered by the company to work as a married part, you could experience problems as your are asking about. if the brake system on you truck was asembled from some spare parts, you will have to ACCURATELY measure the INTERNAL distance between the MC push point to the Booster Push point, then make a push rod to that distance MINUS the clearance you want to experiment with till you find a push rod length that behaves properly in your truck.
