I always phase the intermediate driveshaft to the rear driveshaft. In effect, I am phasing the transfer cases input and output yokes to each other and treating them, and the internal gears and shafts, as an assembly comprising a "third" driveshaft.

If I don't have a chance to do it soon after I have used low range, I can tell during driving as there is the slightest amount of a vibration to remind me. Not as much as leaving the hubs locked in, but it is there.

If I were not so familiar with my two trucks, after owning them both for well over 10 years, and if I were not driving them at about 55 mph on paved roads, I would probably not even notice.
