Vise advice needed!! slightly off topic.

I have many vises :-), but know I find myself needing a metalworking vise for my new workbench in the basement.

What makers, and models of vise do you guys use/recomend?

I find locally I can buy 6" vises for $30, a Chinese import, or a 6" vise for over $100, a nice Record.

I was looking at the Record 6" quick release vise, and I find that to have a nice feel, and gives me a nice feeling of quality.

Does it matter? Should I buy the best looking Taiwanese knock-off I can find, or buy some better brand?

If I buy a better brand, what makers do you like?

I have a 6' long, 34" deep, 2 1/2" thick(2x4s glued together the tall way) workbench top, and while I need a good sized vise, is there a better size for general work that I should get? Maybe 6" is not enough? Too much?
