The winch drum shaft turns one tooth for every revolution of the worm gear. If the drum shaft gear has 50 teeth and the pto is turning 50 rpm the drum is turning 1 rpm. In other words 50 to 1 reduction. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but to turn the winch drum at 640 rpm would be beyond the redline of the flathead, right?
