Does it have a front differential?? If it does, then being it's a '77, it would have come factory with the transfer case married (attached) to the transmission. So, all you would have to do is go to a salvage yard and find that type of setup. If you want a bigger engine, look in the salvage yards for a power wagon with the 400 or 440 w/a manual or automatic whichever your truck is setup for. If you go with a big block, make sure you get the engine mounts off the frame of the donor truck as I think they are different from the small block mounts ... someone correct me if I'm wrong please.
