To sum it up, it sounds like the true 1 wire setup has a problem with draining the battery, which makes some sense. Maybe the "only comes on at high RPM" problem is related to a design attempt to prevent this drain problem? The alternators with the spade lugs on the side can be used as a 1 wire by jumpering the correct (red) wire (thanks Cheyenne Dave) to the batt teminal, with possibly the same drain problem, or better yet, feed it through the ignition switch, preventing the draining problem. So it really is a two wire alternator. I'm going to look at a Chebby wiring diagram to clarify this. Rob
