I would, and did, but it acted so much like being way off time that I wanted to absolutely for sure see where everything was physically in relation to each other. Plus I wanted to get closer to TDC than I could get just by feeling the plug hole, so I could put something close to approximately the right timing mark on the pulley. I first tried to get the #6 test plug out, but as usual, it would not come out, and I didn't want to leave a broken stub in there. Then I remembered I already had this dandy endoscope so I put it to use.
