Hello guys. Was down with the sickness for weeks. Coming back at this again. Looking for an engine that I can get rebuilt before I remove the one in my truck. I am so reluctant to pull and rebuild the one in the truck...reason being, once I separate the now running engine from the running/driving truck...it will have almost no value. Also, imagine if the engine I pull doesnt pass magnaflux then I have nothing. I want to get the replacement engine....strip it, send out for full rebuild then build it up on the stand then remove the old one and install the new one over the course of a couple of weekends. Then I will crate the original engine to stay with the truck. My local engine shop in Port Washington Wisconsin has a medium rating and wants $4-5K to rebuild the engine. Friends are telling me I should see an invoice of about $2500 plus parts. Never done it so don't know. I have rebuilt many motorcycle engines and snowmobile engines but have not done an old truck engine. I guess the heavy lifting is the machining of the bores, the block and head. So if you have an engine let me know what you got. I am 30 miles north of Milwaukee, WI. I can drive maybe 150 miles to get one or can pay for shipment if the engine price is right. I am also looking to learn from you so would love to hear your engine rebuild story - short or long. BTW, I am not on here daily...have a full time job. But I will be back to see if anyone can help me. BTW, happy thanksgiving. Personally I am ready for the snow to fly. I enjoy winter. God Bless. Cliff
