Hi Torvald! No problem on the delay. I just appreciate that you responded (I figured you would at some point). I didn't realize the caps (plates?) on the underside of the axle housing were moveable. When I had my front axle off the truck a few years ago, I tried (a little bit) to remove those and they didn't want to come off and I just assumed they were somehow more permanently connected to the axle housing. Knowing that they can be rotated eliminates a lot of my concerns.
Thanks for telling me where you bought your shims; I was going to ask.
Also, thanks for the info on measuring the alignment of the axle relative to the frame. I will check mine.
Finally, I just want to ask - did you re-use your bolts (clips)? That is a topic that has been discussed and debated to some extent on this forum. I guess there is some thought that they should not be re-used, but I'm not sure how critical that is, really. I've done it before, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's ok. Not trying to stir up a controversial topic, but just wanted to ask you about it.
